Web Willy Watch

Congregation Ohav Emeth has obtained a Web Willy Watch "Every Family License" for our synagogue members. Web Willy Watch is a useful software tool that screens out most Internet pornography.

Web Willy Watch requires Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, or OS/2 and works with Netscape and Microsoft browsers.

If you are a member of this congregation, you may download and use this program for free. If you are not a member, please visit the Web Willy Watch web site. [See footnote]

There is a section in the program called Parental Options. Settings in this section are used to control what your children see. InnoVal, the company that sells Web Willy Watch, provides filters that block most pornographic content. They update the filters monthly. You can obtain free updates from within the parental options section of the program.

It is important that we try to be with our children, particularly smaller children, when they are surfing the Web. However, it is easy for our children to stumble across extremely explicit pornography by clicking on an innocent looking banner ad or link. Web Willy Watch provides important protection, even when we are in the room with them.

By downloading, or installing, or using this product, you indicate your acceptance of the InnoVal License Agreement for Web Willy Watch.

Footnote: (3/29/2000)

It appears that the company that developed Web Willy Watch (InnoVal Systems Solutions, Inc.) may have widthdrawn it from marketing and support, and has taken down the web site at www.webwilly.com. Instead, Advanced Family Safe Technologies is selling a similar product that they acquired from InnoVal, called Iceptur -- see www.iceptur.com -- or perhaps it is the same product (repackaged? new version?).

You may still be able to reach Innoval with the following contact information (this has not been verified):

Mail: InnoVal Systems Solutions, 600 Mamaroneck Ave, Harrison, NY 10528 USA
Voice: 914-835-3838 (8: 30am to 6:00pm, M-F, New York time)
Fax: 914-835-3857
E-mail: innoval@ibm.net

Alternatively, you can do an internet search for other parental control software; there are many low cost options available.
